Sunday's second monthly instalment of Music and Comedy at Oceans 11 in Ocho Rios St Ann was worth going the miles to see.
Following last month's first staging that featured St Mary trio, Exhale, and comedian Lemon, this month featured Peter Lloyd and Christopher 'Johnny' Daley - and they were excellent.
The size of the crowd was an improvement of the first show, which may be an indication that people are catching on to the idea of pairing music and comedy. However, an audience of less than a 100, is by no means a good crowd.
Peter Lloyd was awesome! He is not a singer who has had many chart hits, however, with 31 years in the music industry, he has mastered the art of performance.
In a 67-minute performance that went by in the blink of an eye, Lloyd mesmerised the audience with a brilliant set, mixed with music and words of wisdom. He mingled with the crowd, teasing the women, joking with the men, and giving them music and more music.
From originals such as Wake Dem Up, Blood on Your Hands, Dancehall Queen, and It is a Blessing 0 - a song her wrote for his daughter and her mom - to tributes to reggae greats such as John Holt 'Carpenter), Buju Banton (Untold Stories), Dennis Brown 'Should I) Gregory Isaacs (Night Nurse), among others,
Lloyd worked the crowd and had them singing with him throughout. And although he had some serious words for the audience, he also shared some positive vibes without talking too much.
He was to end with his latest release - a reggae cover of John Lennon's classic, 'Woman'.
Performing in Ocho Rios for the first time since representing Jamaica in the Laugh Factory's Funniest Person in the World Competition, Daley, was his usual comedic self. Describing real life situations, Daley had the audience, even Lloyd himself who stayed behind to watch the show, in stitches throughout his performance.
After half an hour, the audience demanded more and he obliged with 10 more minutes, but the crowd left seemingly satisfied with the offerings.
Staged every third Sunday at Oceans 11, the Music and Comedy series continues on May 20, and already promoters Jigsy and Lemon have announced Thriller U and comedians Mr Handsome and Zazan for that date.
