With the promise of Sweet Energy hanging in the air, this year's staging of the Sweat Fete exercise party, dubbed the Glow Edition, certainly delivered.
According to Sweet Energy Fitness' Nelly Modest, there was something for everyone at Sweat Fete, held at the Jessie Ripoll Primary School in St Andrew.
From Zumba and 'socasize' to body sculpting and power aerobics, the event offered variety.
"It's an exercise party that brings participants and trainers from all physical backgrounds to express their fitness and creativity in a unified and fun way, challenging body and mind while still benefiting from all fitness components," Modest, a physical training instructor and Jamaica Bodybuilding and Fitness Association bikini athlete, told The Gleaner's Fit 4 Life.
This creativity was evident not only in the performances by the various trainers, but also in the lighting and decor, which brought out the 'Glow' theme.
Glow-in-the-dark accessories helped create the perfect atmosphere in which patrons were kept moving from the 6:30 p.m. start until well into the night.
Instructors such as Mad Andrew, 876 Tina, Body by Kurt, Randy Myers Unit 1, Fit Rev, Sweet Energy Fitness' trainers, Livewire MC Sheena-Kay, Endevarous Dancers and, of course, Modest kept fun and sweat flowing from start to finish.
"Sweat Fete targets all levels of fitness - beginners, intermediate and advanced," said Modest.
Sweet Energy Fitness has been around since 2015, when Mario Cummings, aka Jetlee, started a programme geared towards holistic lifestyle, physical, recreational and mental toughness in Miami, Florida, in the United States.
Back home, Anthony Kepple and the Sweet Energy team have been growing the brand, hosting the fitness party for the past two years.
Modest described the Sweet Energy Fitness programmes as "more outdoor-based to expose persons to more natural elements and to target all components of fitness by using more body weight and other apparatus".
She added, "Our programmes include corporate, hike, team building, military-style training, company sports days, personal training, and aqua aerobics, among other things."
