MBJ Airports Limited is attributing increased airlift at Sangster International Airport for its revenue gains in the first half of this year.
"Traffic performance for the first half of 2018 shows notable growth due to strong recovery in traffic from the Canadian market, new routes, increased rotations, and improved load factors," said Sharon Hislop-Holt, manager, commercial business development and marketing at MBJ Airports Limited.
Looking ahead, MBJ is also anticipating gains from the addition of flights by Eurowings, which "provides for local booking of direct service from Jamaica to Germany," said Hislop-Holt.
MBJ Airports recorded six per cent increase in revenue to US$52 million at half-year ending June and an estimated US$10 million in operating profit. Over the period, the airport's total passenger rose to 2.32 million from 2.16 million a year earlier.
