Motorists across much of the Corporate Area spent little time in traffic as the new school term got underway and new traffic adjustments got their first real test.
Drivers who spoke with The Gleaner said that they were surprised by the smooth commute.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Donovan Dallas was seen busy directing traffic along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
Dallas said there were no major traffic issues since has been out on the job from 6 a.m.
"It is going well. Motorists are understanding the changes and we are just here to make sure it's smooth sailing," said Dallas.
Police personnel were seen at several major intersections across the Corporate Area, a welcomed sight according to some drivers.
"I was expecting worries this morning, but it seems for once that they got it right, " one motorist said.
The newly created one-way running north on Mannings Hill Road had few minor incidents, which were quickly addressed by the police.
But one bus driver was unsatisfied.
"Tell dem say it nah work because dem teak me off a de route where Constant Spring passengers duh. A lose me agog lose now, " he said.
Meanwhile, motorists experienced bumper to bumper traffic on the eastbound lanes of the Mandela Highway where traffic backed up all the way to Twickenham Park.
