Western Bureau:
Manchester High drubbed DeCarteret College 7-2 in ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup action yesterday, but winning coach Andre Edwards was far from happy.
Edwards is disappointed with his defence as according to him they continue to give up soft goals.
Yesterday Janoi Simpson scored a brace while the other goals for the winners came from Alex Gardener, Jamar Bolt, Shadane Powell, Marlando Maxwell and Larry Maitland. Shavon Williams and Joash Johnson were the goal scorers for DeCarteret College.
Edwards believes if they were able to hold on to a clean sheet last Saturday where they drew 1-1 with Mile Gully High they would have picked up the three points.
"We played in patches," Edwards said about yesterday's display. "The opponents offered very little and we gifted goals as we were very poor defensively. There is a lot of work to be done before our next game on Saturday.".
"When you play teams of the quality that we are playing against and you give up goals and gift chance on top of chance it has to be of concern. When we are playing against the stronger opponents we can't be giving up these kinds of chances if we are going to be contenders for the title," he added.
"We have a lot of work to do at both ends of the pitch," said Edwards who is hoping to tie up all these loose ends by Saturday when they take on May Day High.
