THE EDITOR, Sir:
The continuing wave of crime against returning residents to Jamaica has reached alarming proportions. It has become an epidemic which is spreading and there seems to be no cure to curb it.
The Jamaica Association for the Resettlement of Returning Residents (JARRR) registers its shock and sadness at the latest report of Karen Cleary, British hairdresser and beautician, whose body was discovered in the garden of her home in St Mary by detectives.
The JARRR condemns this dastardly act of violence and offers sincerest condolences to the family of Ms Cleary. This is a time for all Jamaicans to unite with universal condemnation of these crimes that are directed towards Jamaicans, whose desire is to return to the land of their birth.
This brings to 12 murders committed against returning residents since the start of the year.
While I commend the police for their quick response, I implore them to use every intelligence and tread carefully and do more In-depth and thorough investigation to apprehend the guilty party in this case.
