ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup champions Clarendon College (CC) defeated their urban counterparts Kingston College (KC), the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup champions 1-0 to lift the Olivier Shield trophy at the National Stadium tonight.
In an even game that was seemingly heading to a penalty shootout, Lenworth Hyde's side left it until late to secure their breakthrough. Andre Nicholson received a pass just outside the KC area and unleashed a venomous left footed drive into the far corner of goalkeeper Nathaniel Francis' net to get the winning goal in the 87th minute.
CC, the only school to win two trophies this season, dedicated the victory to their late former coach Winston Chung-Fah, who died last month. Chung-Fah was CC's coach the last time they won the Olivier Shield, Hyde was a player for the school. This was in 1978.
Glenmuir High School are the last rural champions of the trophy, having shared it with Manning Cup champions Bridgeport High School in 2006, however they were sole holders in 2004.
