Zimmer & Company has entered into distribution arrangements that will see its cannabis-laced health and wellness products entering markets in Mexico and Colombia.
T’Shura Gibbs, who heads the Montego Bay-based company, says she has struck a deal with with Colombian firm Medical Extractos, a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical and botanical products, will see them handling the distribution of Zimmer’s beauty and cosmetic line into that market, while the penetration of Mexico will be handled through Zimmer Mexico will take on that market.
“Zimmer has always been looking for opportunities to expand and grow our distribution footprint, and we are particularly interested in the ones that have us working in the Caribbean and Latin America,” Gibbs told the Financial Gleaner.
The company has been expanding at a rapid rate since it began operations last year when Gibbs decided to leave her executive position at power utility Jamaica Public Service Company Limited and start her own business.
Zimmer & Company has focused on the hemp-based CBD, or cannabidiol wellness aspect of the industry, and now carries a line of 150 products in its portfolio.
Chairman Douglas Gordon also sees Europe and the continent of Africa as the premier target markets for the company, an opportunity that is actively being pursued.
“It would be a real source of pride for us to become a dominant name in the continent of Africa,” he said. “Penetrating Europe would also be an awesome accomplishment.”
