Dr Pamela Beshoff, a former information attaché of the Jamaican High Commission in London and founding president of the Friends of the Georgian Society of Jamaica, is dead.
Her passing has not gone unnoticed by High Commissioner Seth George Ramocan, who hailed her contribution as “beneficial” over the years.
“It was with much sadness that I received the news of the passing of Dr Beshoff. On behalf of the staff of the high commission and, indeed, the Government and people of Jamaica, please accept sincere condolences and convey same to the family and friends of Dr Beshoff,” noted Ramocan.
Beshoff was well known and appreciated by various former high commissioners and staff of the mission as well as the wider Jamaican community.
Ramocan said that although she was not known to him, she was multitalented and has left a lasting legacy, particularly through the Friends of the Georgian Society, with whom the high commission still enjoys excellent relations.
“Jamaica has benefited tremendously over the years from the committed support of the society in preserving and restoring many of its historic buildings,” added Ramocan.
Beshoff, who was a renowned writer and academic, was also known for writing A Brief History of the Jamaican High Commission in London, which was, for many years, displayed on the mission’s website.
