Miss Nigeria 2019 Nyekachi Douglas says she will “definitely” be visiting Jamaica and already, the Tourism Ministry is working to make it happen.
Douglas was Jamaica’s biggest cheerleader on Saturday when 23-year-old St Thomas native Toni-Ann Singh was announced Miss World 2019.
At the announcement, Douglas sprang into the air then dashed towards Singh screaming and shouting before hugging her.
Singh had to be pried from Douglas’ grasp by the outgoing Miss World Vanessa Ponce of Mexico to be crowned.

“I’m definitely coming to Jamaica. Definitely,” Douglas told Jamaican Oroyo Eubanks in London.
Douglas is a public health student and aspiring model, who also aims to develop her own fashion brand.
She said too that she was genuinely happy for the Jamaican queen, whom she was confident would have won the Miss World title this year.
“I’m sure people thought I thought I won, but I was just so happy for her. She was amazing. A lot of times in these competitions, there are a lot of times you’re like ‘oh my God, this is really too much for me. There was a time I wondered what’s my purpose? She’s the one who would be like ‘listen, you got this,’” she said.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says he will be collaborating with the Culture and Gender Affairs Minister Olivia Grange to invite Miss Nigeria and Miss India to Jamaica at the earliest possible time.
