Waterhouse head coach Marcel Gayle says he has no plans to make any addition to his squad when the January transfer window opens.
Gayle said that he was very pleased with the make-up of his squad, which leads the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), but says that he plans to rotate his players to keep them fresh throughout the season.
“At this moment, I think that we are OK, so any additions to the team right now would have to be somebody who has a lot more quality than what we have right now,” Gayle said.
“It must be a reason why we are at the top of the league because we have a very good cadre of players, but we just need to work a little bit harder and just carry out what we need to do from here on. We have a whole lot of work to do because some players’ legs are getting a little bit burnt, so the depth in the squad just has to come up big for us.”
Waterhouse, who were beaten by Portmore United in the RSPL final last season, have increased their lead atop this season’s standings to four points, following their hard-fought 1-0 victory against hosts Tivoli Gardens at the Edward Seaga Complex yesterday.
Stephen Williams netted the winner for the visitors in the 42nd minute. Tivoli ended the match with 10-men after defender Ranike Anderson was sent off after picking up a second yellow card. Waterhouse’s victory was their first win in four matches and Gayle said that they are very delighted for the win.
“We have been playing well, but unfortunately, we have not been in the winning enclosure,” he said. “We are grateful same way, and we just have to take it a game at a time. We are grateful for this victory because it is a win away from home and we will just move on to our next game.”
Waterhouse are set to face Molynes United in their next encounter on Monday night at the Drewsland Stadium. Tivoli’s defeat is the ninth of their season as they remain in ninth place on 21 points.
