The 2020 Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Magnum Major League competition is scheduled to kick-off this afternoon with the playing of three matches.
In the day’s feature game, Duhaney Park will oppose Shortwood United at Baldwin Crescent, Red Hills United will host Coorville Gardens at Belvedere, and Maverley/Hughenden entertain Pembroke Hall at Maverley Park. All games are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
Thirteen teams are down compete in this year’s competition, seven in Zone A and six in Zone B. The winners and runners-up in the competition will secure promotion to the Super League competition next season.
Wayne Shaw, president of KSAFA, said he is looking forward to a very competitive season because most of the teams are evenly matched in all departments.
“I think this is going to be a very exciting season because we have the return of Maverley/Hughenden, Red Hills United, and two Super League teams were demoted in Mountain View and Maxfield Park, so I expect this year to be very competitive,” Shaw said.
“The teams have been training very hard and playing a lot of practice matches, so everybody is ready and raring to go before the start of the competition.”
Shaw said that the standard of the tournament have been improving significantly over the years and this season should be no different.
“Crowd support has also been very good because we have had good turnouts during these matches,” he said.
