As several countries emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, there is deep introspection as to the impact of the crisis on industries and individuals. The fashion industry was particularly disadvantaged because the new work-from-home norm was simply not applicable. Models, like most other professionals in the business, have remained largely inactive amid the coronavirus. However, Miqueal Symone Williams has taken advantage of the times by advancing her degree in marketing and psychology at The University of the West Indies.
“It is so important for me to pursue my degree and check this major milestone in my life,” says Williams. “I am confident that when things get moving again, I will be back in full force with my modelling career, armed with the knowledge that I have done myself proud with my academic achievement” she shared.
The model, who was transitioning from her London base to the highly lucrative New York market, is one of the new rising stars in the international business. Williams’ flawless beauty saw her on an upward trajectory for top-label beauty campaigns. French label, and a staple of beauty care professionals and women the world over, L’Oréal Cosmetics, enlisted Williams for their campaign in one of her first major bookings after her international career was launched.
“Miqueal Symone has the classic beauty look. She has the image that is highly valued for cosmetic campaigns,” says Pulse Chairman Kingsley Cooper. “Not only is Williams stunning as the face of a beauty brand, but she is also a highly intelligent, young woman who is adept at expressing herself, which augurs well for her as a potential spokesperson for any campaign she books,” continues Cooper.
Several beauty behemoths began to take notice of the Jamaican beauty. Italian luxury label Armani signed Williams for their beauty campaign, which she shot in 2019. Williams had been criss-crossing the Atlantic for her staple gigs in London and New York, and it was during a quick stop in Jamaica that she learned of her Armani assignment. She flew to Paris from Jamaica to complete the shoot.
In Paris, Armani was just one of many who wanted to have an audience with Miqueal Symone. Lancel, another French design house, booked her for their look book. And the creative directors at Valentino also called for Williams when they tapped her for their couture collection later that spring. With an elegant and statuesque frame to complement her beauty, Williams has also done runway work for Tommy Hilfiger, Halpern, Richard Quinn, Huishan Zhang and Roksanda Ilincic.
With her last major assignment for the Japanese make-up house Shiseido, shot in New York, Williams expects to be roaring back once this campaign starts making the rounds.
