The police as well as Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) are awaiting the results of a DNA test to determine if a 20-year-old woman is in fact the mother of the new-born baby which was abandoned in the Oxford Mall Arcade in downtown Kingston recently.
The baby, who was found by a market vendor, has been dubbed ‘Baby Blessings’ by vendors due to the outpouring of love and affection from those following the case.
Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay informed The Gleaner that it was an relative of the suspected mother who alerted them in their investigations and the police made contact with the young woman. A DNA test was done, the results of which they are awaiting to determine the next step.
Meanwhile, the CPFSA says the matter relating to care of the baby, who is reportedly doing well, was taken to court and an order made resulting in the child being placed in state care.
