Shot putter O'Dayne Richards and discus thrower Shanice Love have been dropped from Jamaica's Olympics team.
Both athletes had originally made the team having satisfied the quota that the International Olympic Committee had for the number of athletes competing in each event although they had not achieved the required Olympic standard. However, based on the results from the Diamond League meet in Oslo, Norway, on Thursday, they have been surpassed in the rankings and therefore will miss out on this year's Olympics.
Shadae Lawrence is the lone Jamaican to compete in the women's discus while there will be no Jamaicans represented in the men's shot put.
