It's definitely in, to go out to the movies! Here's what's new on-screen and all you need to know this week.
In No Time to Die, James Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond on to the trail of a mysterious villain, armed with dangerous new technology.
The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and stars Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Academy Award winner Ralph Fiennes, Ana de Armas, Billy Magnussen, Rory Kinnear, David Dencik and Dali Benssalah.
No Time to Die is based on James Bond by Ian Fleming. It is produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Music is by Hans Zimmer.
The film marks a significant milestone for Jamaica, featuring never-been-done filming on the Kingston Freeport Terminal as well as scenes from Portland. In 2019, the official announcement of the film took place at GoldenEye, Oracabessa, Ian Fleming's house and the birthplace of Bond.
In No Time to Die, Lashana Lynch (Nomi) is given Bond's licence to kill. She's not the new Bond, but a new character who takes over his secret agent number after he leaves MI6.
A daughter of Jamaican parentage, Lynch is proud of her heritage which gave her a deeper understanding of her role in a Bond film set in the homeland of her parents and grandparents.
Of her history-making role as the first black female 007, with a licence to kill, Lynch said her strong, cheeky and witty character emerged and took shape from conversations and collaborations with writer-director Cary Fukunaga and writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Although she epitomises the strong black woman in much of what she represents, Lynch said it is important that young black girls see the vulnerable side to her character, Nomi, and not just that she is a superhero.
Lynch is a British actress, best known for the role of Rosaline Capulet in the ABC drama series Still Star-Crossed and fighter pilot Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel.
