WHEN IT rains, it pours, and it has certainly been pouring for Elaine Thompson Herah, Olympic Games double sprint champion and the fastest woman alive over both the 100 and 200 metres with her 10.54 and 21.53 clockings.
Since her outstanding feat at the Tokyo Olympic Games, which landed her the World Female Athlete of the Year title by World Athletics, it has been accolade upon accolade for the former Manchester High athlete.
Most recently, Thompson Herah was named AIPS Best Female Athlete for 2021, where she tallied 605 points. The winning nominees for the award were chosen from the votes of 529 international journalist from 114 countries. Spanish footballer, Alexia Putelas finished second on 490 points with Venezuela's world record triple jumper and Olympic champion, Yulimar Rojas, finishing third with 346 points
In the month of December, Thompson Herah has been named the NCAC Athletics Weekly Female Athlete of the Year and the Diamond League’s most consistent athlete in sprints after winning four races.
Also in December, Thompson Herah received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Technology and looks set for another major award in January, as she is the overwhelming favourite to come out on top at the RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Award ceremony.
