Defending champions, Edwin Allen High School, and Holmwood Technical are through to tomorrow's final of the Girls' High School Championships of America 4x800-metre relay at the Penn Relays after finishing second and first respectively in the preliminarry round of the event.
Edwin Allen, the first Jamaican team in action, finished second in 9 minutes 13.89 seconds after leading for the majority of the race as Union Catholic out of New Jersey won in 9:13.08.
Competing in the second heat, the quartet of Cindy Rose, Jody ann Mitchell, Samantha Pryce and Ysanne Peart led from start to finish to win in 9:23.48, ahead of William Penn Charter of Pennsylvania, second in 9:26.88.
Cherokee out of New Jersey won Heat Three in 9:21.19, while Cuthberdon of North Carolina won Heat Four in 9:19.75.
The final is scheduled for tomorrow at 2:55 p.m.
