Seamer Derval Green removed openers Kimani Melius for 17 and Devon Smith for 34 to leave the Windward Islands Volcanoes on 101 for three, still trailing the Jamaica Scorpions by 108 with seven wickets in hand at stumps on day two of their West Indies Championship match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Off-spinner Jamie Merchant then struck in the final over of the day to remove Alick Athanaze for 17.
Earlier, Brandon King hit an unbeaten 119 to lead the Scorpions to a formidable total of 346 all out. King got good support from Merchant who chipped in with a valuable 58. Pacer Preston McSween finished with four wickets for 96 runs.
At the Queen's Park Oval, the Barbados Pride reached 48 for two at stumps, replying to a mammoth 490 for seven declared by the Guyana Harpy Eagles. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite made 17 and Shamarh Brooks two as Sheyne Mosely is not out on 17. The Pride trail by 442 runs. Earlier, opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul laboured to get an unbeaten 140 from 434 deliveries. Gudakesh Motie weighed in with a brilliant 110 against three wickets for Akeem Jordan.
At the Diego Martin Sports Complex, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes, batting a second time, reached 23 without loss at stumps, that is a lead of 240 runs after the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force were dismissed for 140 in their first innings.
Pacers Jeremiah Louis and Colin Archibald took four wickets each while wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva made 65 for Red Force.
