Former Inter-Secondary School Sports Association (ISSA) competitions officer, George Forbes, passed away early Tuesday evening from a long illness The Gleaner has learned.
The highly regarded sports administrator, who served ISSA for 18 years, had been ailing for some time and succumbed to one of multiple complaints, it is understood.
For almost two decades, Forbes was the face of ISSA, and the main source of contact when seeking information regarding high school sports matters.
He demitted office in January 2020, insisting that he was forced out by some boards members after reaching the age of retirement, despite having more to contribute, he argued.
Forbes passed away leaving six children. He was 63 years old.
