Former national tennis player Brandon Burke continues to see his stock rise at the administrative level, as the six-time Davis Cup representative was recently re-elected to the board of directors of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for a second two-year term.

In his capacity as the Player Alternate Representative, Burke has worked alongside player board members Kristie Ahn, Anja Vreg, and Vanessa Webb to engage with all singles and doubles players on the Hologic WTA Tour, which is the global leader in women’s professional sports.

An attorney-at-law by profession, Burke also served as the chairman of the board of the Women’s Tennis Benefits Association (WTBA) and is on the board of directors of WTA Charities, the philanthropic arm of the WTA.

That arm was established to make a positive impact across the globe through various initiatives promoting equality, education, leadership, and health and wellness.

The former Brown University varsity tennis player shared his delight in holding down such a prestigious position in the global sport.

“This is the most rewarding experience of my life so far. The last few years have been difficult for everyone, but we have worked hard to overcome new and unprecedented challenges and I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication of our team and the strides we have made, contributing to all that we have been able to achieve,” said Burke.

In addition to his roles with the WTA and the WTBA, Burke also serves on the Emerging Leaders Council for the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

“It is an honour and a privilege to work with and learn from them every day. I look forward to continuing to push for the growth of women’s tennis and fight for what is in the best interest of our sport and the players.”

Burke continues to explore opportunities that exist to use his platform to help build the sport of tennis in Jamaica and show others the possibilities and opportunities that can exist through pursuing tennis.

Brandon’s father is Douglas Burke who is also a former Jamaica Davis Cup player. Douglas Burke was the director of Tennis Jamaica from 1994 to 2011.
