Jody Ann Mitchell retained her Class One girls’ 1500m and also claimed the record, in her final season at Holmwood Technical, at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium today.
Mitchell defended her title by clocking 4:29.42 minutes, erasing the 4:29.1 minutes mark of Natoya Goule that was done in 2010. Kishay Rowe of Alphansus Davis was second in 4:30.29, while Danielle King of Hydel was third in 4:35.57.
In Class Two, Edwin Allen's Monique Stewart, with 4:41.43 minutes, narrowly edged Holmwood Technical's Cindy Rose, who awarded the identical time, to win the title. St Jago High's Misha Gaye James was third in 4:53.53.
The Class Three title was a one-three finish for Alphansus Davis High as Alikay Reynolds won in 4:46.36. Kededra Coombs of St Jago was second in 4:49.07, while Reynolds' teammate, Tabbrel Williams, got bronze in 4:49.42.
