Long lines greeted popular social media chef Rameish Desouza as he opened his highly-anticipated restaurant today.
Rameish Kitchen is located at the intersection of King Street and Harbour Street in downtown Kingston.
Customers are expected to be treated to his unorthodox culinary creations that have taken social media platforms by storm.
In 2021, Desouza went viral for creating the ackee ice cream.
The following year he again raised a few eyebrows with his curried banana skin recipe.
And this year, he had tongues wagging over his octopus hotdogs.
"A long time me ah wait pan dis, jus affi go hol out and wait cause me mus try di food today," said an eager female customer.
Desouza is encouraging persons to pre-order their food to help reduce wait time.
“Rameish is all about creativity, so the restaurant definitely is all about creativity,” he told The Gleaner in a previous interview.
The restaurant business is not new to him.
He recalled being a 12-year-old in his parents' cookshop in Greater Portmore in St Catherine helping to fry chicken, and although he did not enjoy it at the time, it birthed a curiosity about food in him.
The cookshop eventually closed down.
The self-taught chef said that it was his dream to open his own restaurant.
