Khalia, acknowledged as a rising star in the reggae music scene, is getting ready to release her debut EP titled Stay True and has enlisted the support of reggae music legends including Shaggy, Tanya Stephens, Mortimer, and Blvk H3ro, for the project.
It is produced by Grammy award winner Tony ‘CD’ Kelly.
Born and raised in Jamaica and later relocating to London, Khalia shared that it was always important for her to maintain a strong connection to her roots. Through her love for music, she discovered her passion for reggae and has now become a driving force in the genre. As the first signed artiste to K-Licious Music, Kelly’s label, Khalia has gone from strength to strength in her musical journey.
“This EP is about exploring the different sides to me as an artiste. The music that inspired me was not one dimensional as I fell in love with many genres such as reggae, dancehall, grime, R&B and gospel ... but ultimately reggae is my home. This body of work stays true to my reggae roots,” Khalia explained.
She noted that the lyrics and the topics are from her own life experiences, so each song has its own special place in her heart.
“The EP is titled Stay True from one if the songs [and] it also has a strong meaning to me, battling with what the world wants me to be and who I truly am. I choose to stay true to myself, even though it may not be the easiest thing to do,” said Khalia.
The EP’s lead single, Waiting On You, has already gained immense traction, receiving positive feedback from fans and industry insiders alike. With its infectious melody and memorable lyrics, the track is a testament to Khalia’s ability to create music that resonates with listeners of all backgrounds.
“Khalia effortlessly blends her cultural influences to create a unique sound that resonates with listeners. With her powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, Khalia is set to make a significant impact on the reggae music scene,” Kelly said.
Stay True is scheduled for release on October 27 via Ineffable Records, an independent record label dedicated to promoting and distributing high-quality music across various genres. The EP boasts a diverse range of tracks, from the soulful and introspective Didn’t I, to the powerful yet uplifting Go with Blvk H3ro.
