Here’s a world-class home born from cherished ambitions, a masterpiece reminiscent of those featured in leading international home-design magazines and television programmes.
Meisha Nelson grew up in the humble Grants Pen area of St Andrew, leaving Jamaica at the age of 28 to pursue fame and fortune in Washington, DC, USA. She worked diligently as a medical claims clerk, concurrently engaging in tasks such as cleaning and overall maintenance of foreclosed homes, which included tasks like removing mould and scouring toilets.
After seven years of focus, dedication and commitment to her tasks, all while living a humble life in America, Nelson ambitiously set her sights on building her dream house in Jamaica, choosing Discovery Bay in St Ann. Dominating the top of the hill on a quarter-acre, the contemporary edifice spans 7,500 square feet across three separate levels, offering a direct overlook of Puerto Seco Beach. This achievement was no small feat, representing a sacrifice of blood, sweat, and tears over three years of construction.
Within the blue-grey interior, cast your eyes up to the electrifying, hand-painted mural ceiling, mimicking an atrium feel to the sky outside. Be enamoured by Venetian marble plaster wall finishes, a hallmark typically reserved for the world’s most palatial homes.
You will find four teak wood-floor, plush-bedded sleeping rooms, with the principal one boasting its own double whirlpool tub within the room. Three bathrooms adorned with marble floors complement the living spaces that include upstairs and downstairs living rooms. The coffered-ceiling island kitchen features a marble waterfall dining counter, a wine bar and a fully equipped fitness room. Sea vista verandahs and balconies provide additional spaces to enjoy the surroundings.
Adorning the beige exterior, you’ll find a mini home theatre, an infinity pool with a sun deck, covered entertainment areas, a swimming pool bar and grill, all enveloped by meticulously managed multimillion-dollar gardens, a source of immense pride and joy for Nelson. The space is rounded off by a double carport and staff quarters.
