Multi-award-winning American rapper, actor, and producer Busta Rhymes is set to make a triumphant return to Sashi after a two-decade hiatus. The legendary Sashi Experience Festival is poised for its grand comeback, reviving the magic that defined an era.
The festival is scheduled to unfold from May 23 to 26, starting with the iconic Sashi Fashion Show, culminating in a beach party and the spectacular concert hosted at the Plantation Cove Entertainment Complex in St Ann.
Busta Rhymes, celebrated for chart-topping hits like Pass the Courvoisier and Touch It, will grace the Sashi stage on May 25. He is expected to deliver not only timeless club bangers but also recent hits like Make It Clap, featuring Sean Paul and Spliff Star, I’ll Hurt You, Touch It, Don’t Touch Me (Throw Da Water on ’Em), and the mega-hit, Thank You, featuring Q-Tip, Kanye West and Lil Wayne.
Spearheaded by Horatio Hamilton, the Sashi Experience Festival, renowned for its fusion of international and local talents, promises an “extraordinary showcase of music, fashion, charitable initiatives, and an entertainment-filled weekend”, Hamilton shared.
“After two decades, bringing back Sashi feels like a homecoming, a reunion with the soul of an extraordinary era. Choosing Busta Rhymes, who was there with us in 2002, is more than an artistic decision; it’s a nod to where we started. This revival is more than a festival; it’s a testament to the timeless connection among Sashi, Jamaica, and the global stage. Busta is Jamaican by lineage, so he connects with the people, and this show,” Hamilton added.
The organisers noted that Busta Rhymes’ headline performance “underscores the festival’s unwavering commitment to delivering a world-class entertainment experience, bridging the gap between Jamaica and the global stage”.
