The need for humanity to continuously improve its living environment has been a springboard for cutting-edge technological advancements within the home.
We visit a dream residence in exclusive Ironshore, Montego Bay, that has tenaciously entered the world of tomorrow – a future that is already here, with its revolutionary, electronic wizardry.
It is a highly intelligent house, known as a ‘smart house’, in home automation. The exterior is energised at nights with the riveting sight of LED, colour – changing lights adding a sparkling luminosity to accent the façade. The salt water swimming pool at the rear also comes aglow with colour-changing lighting, emitting differing, radiant hues; with the interior glass-railed, twisting, floating stairs being fully illuminated. These, and all the other main lights throughout the entire solar-powered house, have been programmed to be controlled remotely from anywhere, by a cellphone.
Everyone of the main doors and locks (including the double garage doors) and gates, the security cameras throughout the pool pump; and the independent internet service (no Flow or Digicel); are also automatically monitored and managed remotely by cell phone! The foundation-shaking home does not disappoint with its voice activated technology, as you control gadgets and appliances by simply talking to them.
It was designed and personally built by its owner, electrician and builder, Chris Annon, a previously married, now single individual, who likes everything neat and in its place. Its astronomical, 15,700-square-foot size, on four levels, with gigantic 30-foot high ceilings in places, is amalgamated with 13 bedrooms and 15 ½ bathrooms. A foyer, grand living room, two more living areas, as well as a family and dining space, alongside an island kitchen, unify with the games room, a massage room, and wet bar. Continuous glass-railed balconies and verandahs, allow interiors to breathe and behold sea views yonder.
Doors and windows imported from Germany are bulletproof! Floors are tiled in porcelain and vinyl flooring. The principal bathroom counts among its attributes, a double basin, marble and metal cabinets, a glass windowed whirlpool tub (with its own television and radio), and a walk-in shower. Bedheads were brought in from Italy, and the most comfortable of mattresses, from Canada.
A house of effortless living, that marvels and intrigues … making life more beautiful, harmonious and complete.
