Double Olympic female champion Elaine Thompson-Herah will not be able to defend her titles at the Paris Olympic Games as the five-time Olympic gold medallist has withdrawn from the JAAA National Senior and Junior Championships.
Her management team, Andi Sports, made the revelation late Wednesday night on the eve of the championships, where she was down to participate in the preliminary round of the women's 100 metres.
"Mrs Thompson-Herah will be unable to defend her sprint titles at the Olympic Games due to injury. Mrs Thompson-Herah extends her heartfelt thanks to her sponsors, fans and well-wishers for the love and support showered upon her during this challenging time," according to the release.
