Multiple world and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Olympic diver Yona Knight-Wisdom have been named captains of Jamaica's Olympic team in Paris.
Jamaica Olympic Association president, Christopher Samuda, made the announcement today at a media briefing at the organisation's headquarters.
Fraser-Pryce was the flag bearer for the opening ceremony at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and will compete in her fifth and final Olympic Games. Knight-Wisdom will be competing in his third Olympic Games. He has also indicated that this will be his final Olympics before retirement.
Meanwhile, two-time World Athletics Championships triple jump silver medallist Shanieka Ricketts and swimmer, Josh Kirlew, have been named flagbearers for the opening ceremony on July 26.
Ricketts will be competing in her third Olympic games while Kirlew, who will be competing in the 100-metre butterfly, will be making his Olympic debut.
