Jamaica will have two representatives in the women's 200m semi-finals as Niesha Burgher and Lanae-Tava Thomas were comfortable in qualifying while back-to-back world champion Shericka Jackson withdrew from the event.
Jackson was the second major withdrawal for Jamaica in women's sprint events following Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's withdrawal from the women's 100m semi-finals yesterday.
Burgher was smooth and composed in heat two as she placed second in 22.54 seconds behind American Gabrielle Thomas who won in a time of 22.20.
Running from lane two in heat five, Thomas was all business as she finished second in 22.70.
Brittany Brown of the USA was first in 22.38.
The women's semi-finals are set for tomorrow at 1:45 p.m.
