The St James Police have charged a shopkeeper after he allegedly hit a woman with a gun on July 27 in St John's Square, Retirement, in the parish.
Thirty-year-old Zania Burke, otherwise called 'Fourteen', is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of firearm with intent to injure, assault at common law, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
About 12:30 a.m., a woman with whom Burke had an ongoing dispute was standing in the roadway when Burke allegedly attacked her.
According to reports, Burke pulled a handgun, pointed it at the woman and used it to hit her several times.
The woman fled and later made a report to the police.
On Saturday, Burke turned himself in to the police with his attorney.
He was subsequently charged.
