The Westmoreland police arrested five people in Negril following the seizure of an illegal gun inside a house on Thursday.
Police personnel reportedly conducted an operation in Whitehall, Negril, about 12:30 p.m.
During the search of a two-room board dwelling, a 380 Ruger nine millimetre pistol, three magazines and 21 rounds or ammunition were discovered.
The five occupants of the dwelling were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigations Branch is probing the matter.
