The Ministry of Health & Wellness, in collaboration with the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) will celebrate Caribbean Wellness Day on Saturday, September 14, with a 3K Fun Run/Walk and Wellness Village on the university campus.
Caribbean Wellness Day, which will be celebrated under the theme ‘Power through Collective Action’, with a subtheme ‘Good Health is our Right’, is an annual event geared towards increasing awareness and promotion measures among CARICOM member states and their populations to fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The 3K Fun Run/Walk will commence with a warm-up session ,at 6:30 a.m. Following that members of the public may enjoy the Welln,ess Village with health screenings, food demonstrations and physical activity challenges. There will also be special offers such as free Jamaica Moves T-shirts along with prizes and surprises.
The main objectives of this year’s initiative are to empower persons to make informed decisions about their own health; raise awareness about the importance of collaborations to positively influence health, and strengthen action to promote supportive environments in all settings, so that healthier choices become the easier choice.
