One hundred children from two residential care facilities are returning to school with brighter smiles after receiving free dental care, thanks to a partnership between the Supreme Ventures Foundation (SVF) and Dent-Care Smile Clinic.
Mobile dental units were set up at The Salvation Army Windsor Lodge in Williamsfield, Manchester, and Mustard Seed Communities, Jerusalem, in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Dent-Care Smile Clinic’s expert team provided comprehensive dental cleanings and fluoride treatments to the children at both homes. This year, the initiative expanded to include caregivers, recognising their crucial role in the children’s lives.
Captain Neyel Moliere, administrator at The Salvation Army Windsor Lodge, praised the initiative.
“We’re grateful to SVF and Dent-Care Smile Clinic for helping prepare our children for the new school year. This alleviates a significant expense, allowing us to allocate resources to other necessities for the children. A big thank you to them.”
Each child received a care package containing dental hygiene tools and follow-up care resources. SVF also provided book vouchers, backpacks, lunch bags, and water bottles for each student.
Chloleen Daley-Muschett, corporate communications and public relations manager at Supreme Ventures Limited, commented, “The Supreme Ventures Foundation is always seeking meaningful ways to positively impact the lives of children in our communities. Supporting oral health is one such way, as we can help them start the school year with confidence and a bright smile. This initiative goes beyond just dental care; it’s about investing in these children’s overall well-being and future success. By partnering with Dent-Care Smile Clinic for the second year running, we’re not only providing immediate care, but also instilling good oral hygiene habits that will benefit these children for years to come.”
Sarah Hyatt, general manager of Dent-Care Smile Clinic, expressed pride in participating for the second consecutive year.
“We’re thrilled to serve this incredible community. By ensuring the oral health of both children and caregivers, we’re supporting the entire care ecosystem.”
Hyatt concluded, “This partnership between Supreme Ventures Foundation and Dent-Care Smile Clinic demonstrates the power of collaboration in making a tangible difference in Jamaicans’ lives. We’re grateful for the opportunity to impact the Windsor Lodge and Mustard Seed communities positively and look forward to future collaborations with Supreme Ventures Foundation.”
