Pursued International Foundation, a Jamaican non-profit organisation fighting human trafficking, will stage a fundraiser dubbed ‘Sip and Paint for Freedom’ on September 28 at The Dental Association of Jamaica in Kingston at 6 p.m.
The organisation, which focuses on identifying female commercial sex workers and connecting them with appropriate avenues and resources, aims to raise funds that will be allocated to expanding the scope of work currently being done, from the provision of essential resources to aiding survivors to reclaim their lives.
“As we approach our Sip and Paint for Freedom event, we anticipate an evening of creativity, meaningful connections, and purpose. This event is not just about creating art; it’s about painting a brighter future for survivors of human trafficking. Each brushstroke represents hope, freedom, and the critical support we provide through Pursued International,” founder and CEO Stacy-Ann Smith noted in a release.
The fundraiser is coordinated to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by human trafficking through the proceedings raised. Sip and Paint for Freedom also promises to deliver an evening of creativity, camaraderie and impact through artistic creations and stimulating conversations, the release noted further.
“The success of this event will not only be measured by the funds we raise, but by the lives we continue to impact. Every dollar contributes directly to expanding our work, from providing essential resources to empowering survivors to reclaim their lives. Whether you can attend or not, you can still participate in the event by donating. Donations can be made locally or internationally by our website, https://pursuedinternational.com/sip-and-paint-for-freedom/ [1] “ Smith added.
The fundraising efforts will also support the foundation’s key programmes and initiatives, including counselling, mentorship and reintegration efforts for survivors of human trafficking.
“Your contributions are vital in helping us continue our work, and every bit helps make a difference in the lives of survivors. Join us in this mission to bring freedom and healing where needed,” Smith urged.
The initiative is supported through sponsorship by The Jamaica Dental Association, One Great Studio, VerbCommunication, Art Frenzy, Jamaica Broilers Group of Companies, Liguanea Family Dental, Premium Portables JA, High Definition Media Productions, Hawkeye and Chef Samantha George.
Launched in 2018, Pursued International Foundation is a faith-based, non-profit organisation targeting at-risk women and girls, with an emphasis on counselling, mentorship and empowerment. The release outlined that the foundation has partnered with government agencies, church groups and youth organisations to raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking.
