THE EDITOR, Madam:
I write with reference to the article, ‘PAJ condemns attacks on media’, published in The Gleaner on October 5.
I condemn the attack on the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) in the strongest possible terms.
The Government is responsible for deciding how the country is run and for managing things day to day; and the role of the Opposition is to scrutinise the actions of the Cabinet and offer alternative policies.
Be a citizen and always seek to maintain democracy.
Participate in government and politics, vote in an election and contact your member of parliament about your concerns, and ask them to help you. Monitor the Government, build coalitions, manage conflict peacefully and fairly, and petition speakers, or testify before public bodies.
Let us move forward, not backward. We are in the 21st century. Let us unite, not be divided. Let us respect the PAJ and all journalists that inform and educate us, so that we can build a better Jamaica.
