On Sunday, patrons who turn up for the grand opening of Olympian Brandon Simpson’s health juice bar, Perform, at 19 Herb McKenley Drive, formally known as Roosevelt Avenue, in Kingston, will not only be treated to healthy food samples and juices, but also a free reggae concert.
Performers on Sunday will include Iba Mahr, the reggae singer who is known for his unique vibrato style and hit record Diamond Sox, reggae singer and songwriter Lila Iké, dub rock reggae band Heavy Weight Rockaz, and more. The launch event will take place between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a ‘Be You’ dress code.
The event will be hosted by radio presenter Jadeen ‘Jade’ McGhie, while behind the wheels of steel will be DJ Dutty Bookman.
“We’re not selling to the public on Sunday. We’re really giving them an opportunity to sample Perform’s menu. There will be small versions of the menu,” Brandon Simpson told Food.
“The entertainment line-up for the evening will be spectacular while customers come to drink and eat healthy for the very first night we will be open to the public. They will be treated to sweet reggae music from some of Jamaica’s best talents in the industry, which has been a dream of mine, and I am happy it is coming to life in a matter of days, on October 27,” he added.
The store will be officially open for business on Monday.
