NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The authorities in the Bahamas are yet to identify the two charred bodies found in the wreckage of a plane that crashed on Ragged Island on Sunday.
The crash occurred east of the Duncan Town Airport and the police said they were notified about the incident shortly before 5:00 a.m. local time.
Officers, including personnel from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), Operation Bahamas and Turks and Caicos and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), responded and found the twin engine plane engulfed in flames and destroyed.
Police said an initial examination of the aircraft revealed the remains of one person but later the remains of a second person were found.
No other details have been made available as yet.
Ragged Island is an 8.9 square mile island and district in the southern Bahamas.
It is a haven for avid fishermen, with its unparalleled flats ideal for bone fishing.
Ragged Island is part of a long chain of islands stretching from the southern tip of Long Island, Bahamas, extending almost to Cuba.
