An alleged gunman was fatally shot by the police during a reported confrontation in Tryall Heights, Spanish Town, St Catherine last night.
The deceased is yet to be identified.
The incident is being probed by the independent Commission of Investigations.
It is reported that about 11:30 p.m., a police party went to the area to conduct an operation.
According to the police, while entering a premises the team was challenged by the unidentified man who was allegedly armed with a handgun.
The police reportedly took evasive action and fired, injuring the man.
The police reported that a Beretta nine millimetre pistol was seized from him.
He was assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
