The St Mary police have revealed that the pregnant murder victim whose body was discovered on Sunday wrapped in a tarpaulin in Devon Pen in the parish is a teenager.
She is 16-year-old Jadene Gayle, also known as 'Big Red', of Sligo Road, Mountain View, St Andrew.
The identification was made by her mother, who reportedly viewed photographs of the victim.
Police sources said that Gayle's body was found by residents along the main road in the Devon Pen community shortly after 4 p.m.
Acting superintendent of police for the St Mary division, Anthony Wallace, said the police have since identified Gayle's 39-year-old boyfriend as a person of interest in the case and taken him in for questioning.
He was arrested during an operation carried out Tuesday afternoon at his home located along Sligo Road, off Mountain View Avenue, St Andrew.
"The St Mary police thank the public for their cooperation and encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Port Maria Police at 876-994-4222, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station," said Wallace.
