CRICKET: Jamaica Franchise suffers fourth successive defeat

The Jamaica Franchise suffered their fourth defeat in succession in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Four Day Professional Cricket League game, at Warner Park, in St Kitts, this time going down to the Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes who started the day on 139 for 6, still in need of 26 runs for victory with four wickets in the bag, cantered home to their first victory of the competition reaching their target of 165 to end on 168 for 6, off 51.2 overs.
Wicket keeper, Devon Thomas who resumed on 78, hit the winning boundary off Odean Brown to end unbeaten on 99 runs and to be named player of the game.
Bowling for the Jamaica Franchise, Damion Jacobs ended with 3 for 56, to finish with a match haul of 10 for 110.
Marquinio Mindley, Jason Dawes and John Campbell all ended with one wicket apiece.
The Jamaica Franchise will next play Barbados Pride, in their final game starting this Friday, at Sabina Park.
In other games at lunch on today’s fourth and final day, leaders the Guyana Jaguars were 198 for 5 in their second innings against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, at the Guyana National Stadium, a lead of 149 runs with five wickets intact.
Over at the Kensington Oval, in Barbados, the host Barbados Pride, were 67 for 3, in their second innings, an overall lead of 131 runs over the Windward Islands Volcanoes.
