Tastee expands to Liguanea
Tastee Limited has acquired a 6,000 square foot commercial complex in Liguanea, Kingston, which it is expected to transform into an eatery and rental holding.
Sunday Business has learnt that the patty company plans to develop a new Tastee outlet, a fine dining restaurant, a bar and lounge, as well as commercial space for rent.
This will mark the company's entrance into the Liguanea area. It's patties are currently sold in that area by Sugar & Spice pastries.
Head of Retail Operations Jermaine Scarlett confirmed the purchase of the complex, its size and location, but declined further comment.
"It's near Matilda's Corner; it's a complex of over maybe 6,000 square feet," Scarlett said, while noting that plans for the property are in progress.
Tastee has been in expansion mode since 2012 when it added three stores located in Linstead, Morant Bay and Ocho Rios. In 2013, the fast food chain opened its 31st outlet in Port Maria at a cost of $40 million amid previous investments amounting to more $250 million. The expansions created some 300 jobs.
The company also expanded its school concession line under which it operates full canteen services.
