VISION (centre), with Omar Walker aboard, winning the Ronron Trophy, run over 1200 metres, at Caymanas Park yesterday.

VISION, offering odds of 12-1 with leading jockey Omar Walker riding for 15-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, made virtually all to win the second running of the Ronron Trophy, a restricted stakes event over 1200 metres at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Breaking smartly from the number two post position, the 3-y-o grey colt led under pressure from 7-1 chance CLASSY AVIATOR on his inside, passing the half mile with the highly fancied pair of BIRD CATCHER (5-2) and PURE AMAZEMENT (5-1) in close touch in a field of 12 three-year-olds.

VISION, however, maintained a narrow lead over the Aaron Chatrie-ridden CLASSY AVIATOR into the straight, finding extra under a bustling ride to beat CLASSY AVIATOR on the rails by 11/2 lengths with the American filly, PURE AMAZEMENT a close third. The 2-1 favourite, ANOTHER FURY, was a big disappointment and ended up in the eleventh spot.

VISION, who had previously won over this trip on August 20 with Walker aboard, is by He'stherealthing out of the Alisios mare Money Spinner, owned by the trainer's wife, Elizabeth DaCosta, and bred by Orange Valley Estates Limited.

DaCosta had a second winner on the card in QUEEN OF BAGDAD (8-1), who stormed through from well off the pace to catch and beat stable-companion DYSFUNCTIONAL, the 3-5 favourite with Walker aboard, by a neck.

FIRST OF THREE

Owned by Carlton Watson, QUEEN OF BAGDAD was the first of three winners for top apprentice Bebeto Harvey on the 10-race programme. Harvey also won the closing race over the straight aboard 2-1 chance STAR OF DAVID as well as the 99-1 outsider A VESSEL OF LOVE for trainer Lawrence Freemantle in the eighth race over 1100 metres for maiden three-year-old fillies.

Coming from far off the pace, A VESSEL OF LOVE finished like a runaway train to beat 11-1 chance BROOKLYN by a neck in a 13-horse field.

This weekend will feature the two-day Heroes Racing Carnival with the Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy kicking off the Supreme Ventures 2-y-o series on Saturday and the popular Gold Cup race over 1400 metres highlighting Monday's Heroes Day programme on October 17.
