Residents of Duxes, Pointhill St Catherine have cited jealousy as the reason one of their neighbours was murdered by her irate lover earlier this week.

The dead woman has been identified as 45-year-old labourer Hermalyn Bell of the Duxes Pointhill community in the parish.

Her lover has been held by the police and is now facing a murder charge.

It is reported that about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, Bell was at home where she was allegedly attacked by her boyfriend.

Bell reportedly ran outside her house but was chased by her lover who chopped her on the head and neck.

The man reportedly chased one of Bell's children who begged him to stop chopping her mother.
