The police say they are fully prepared to handle any incident that might occur on the road today for the Carnival road march and they are especially on the lookout for unruly behaviours.

"We advise that you come out, have fun , look on and maintain that level of self control. Any breaches in public peace and persons will be prosecuted. We have a zero tolerance approach to disruptions," said Assistant Superintendent Dahlia Garrick, head of the police Corporate Communications Unit.

Three carnivals are running simultaneously across the corporate area and hundreds of persons are on the streets.

According to Garrick, it has been all system go.

"We have put in a number of arrangements to ensure the smooth flow of all the parades as well as to take into consideration motorists and pedestrians," she said.

Uniformed police have been posted along the parade routes and members of the Mounted Troop have also been patrolling.

Garrick also said the police will maintain their presence throughout the night as they are aware of several after parties planned for later on this evening.
