Nestled on the lush, tranquil 64-acre property in Huddersfield, St Mary, the three model homes at the Edgehill development are almost ready for viewing. It's the kind of place where, once on property, you feel completely at home. Work is going apace and the projected completion date is any day now. Model units will be furnished and outfitted with appliances from Courts and Singer.
Prospective buyers have three designs to choose from: The Diana which is 1,020 square feet, the Elizabeth which is 1,340 square feet and The Victoria which is 1,547. The former has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, open concept living/dining/kitchen area, patio. All three designs feature porcelain tiles, hardwood veneers, custom-crafted kitchen cupboards, vaulted ceilings, solid wood doors, colour-coordinated shingles with a 20-year warranty and landscaped green spaces.
The Elizabeth has all of the features of The Diana plus a family room, and carport, while The Victoria also has a foyer, an extended counter in the kitchen, a breakfast area, a laundry, a garage and an optional lanai, plus the master bedroom features and en suite bathroom.
FINISHING TOUCH
Workmen and women were busy with the finishing touches on The Diana when The Gleaner arrived, and Michael Scott from UKB Inc was supervising the installation of the kitchen cabinets. Palm trees and other ornamental plants were already showing signs of their future lush life in the garden, and painters were transforming primed walls into their permanent pastel shades. Work is also moving apace on the roads, guardhouse and other infrastructure at the property.
There will be 311 units upon completion of the project, but phase one has 100 units. There will be a clubhouse, jogging trail, two tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Each house will also be fitted with solar power to run everything except electric stoves and air-conditioning units.
The property's developer, Rollin Bennett, is happy that prospective owners from home and in the diaspora have been responding so positively, as, already, 50 per cent of the first 100 houses in phase one have been sold and offers are continuing to come in.
"I would advise interested persons to contact us now because the rest are going fast," said Bennett. A property developer in Toronto, Canada, he said he aims to bring North American residential standards to a multiplex subdivision.
"We are catering to the needs of people who are accustomed to having something above low-income design that will be their permanent residence, an investment property or a holiday home," Bennett added.
