Barbados Pride in control

Jamaica Franchise were struggling on 222 for nine at the end of the second day of their WICB Professional League four-day clash against Barbados Pride at Sabina Park yesterday.

Responding to the Barbadians first innings total of 310, the Tamar Lambert-led team were 222 for nine when stumps were drawn, still 88 runs behind.

Fast bowlers Jason Dawes, 16, and Marquino Mindley, 10, will resume batting today at 10 a.m.

"The game, I believe, is still wide open," said 34-year-old Lambert, who is playing in his final game as captain.

"We still have two batters at the crease, so hopefully they can take us as close to their total as possible."

The destroyer for the Barbadians is left-arm spinner, Jomel Warrican.

The 22-year-old former West Indies Under-19 representative, claimed seven for 68.

This was against openers Jon-Ross Campbell and John Campbell, who gave Jamaica a positive start of 69 before eventually falling to the bowling of Warrican shortly after lunch for 36 and 35, respectively.

Jermaine Blackwood, 33, Tamar Lambert, 18, were the other leading run-getters for Jamaica.

QUITE HAPPY

"I'm quite happy with the position we are in," noted Barbados captain, Kraigg Brathwaite.

"I thought the bowlers were quite disciplined, especially the spinners.

"The plan now is to get them out early tomorrow, and try and build on our lead heading into the last day."
