Veteran Journalist and university Lecturer Dr Dennis Howard will today host the first staging of a workshop, Event Planning, Design and Production.

The two-day workshop concludes tomorrow at the Garmex Heart Academy, 76 Marcus Garvey Drive, St Andrew.

Persons who choose to attend, will be required to pay $10,000. However, for that price, they will also receive an internationally accepted certification to validate their skills in event planning.

Howard also told The Gleaner, that he plans to target seasoned event planners, beginners in event planning as well as employees who organise events at work.

According to Howard, "It is increasingly becoming evident that event-driven marketing and commemorative special events are the way to go in Jamaica for the private and public sectors. However, the level of professionalism is lacking and many folks in event management need to attain certification and sharpen their skills, hence the professional-development series. Here, we will offer international certification and transfer of new skills. There is no better value for money with experienced and qualified presenters. So make contact with us to register at 906-4515 or 466-6933."

The event is endorsed by Heart Trust/NTA, Institute of Cultural Policy and Innovation and is approved by the International Special Events Society.
