Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, has congratulated Miss Jamaica World, Dr Sanneta Myrie, on placing in the top five in the 2015 Miss World Competition, held this morning in Sanya, China.

“She exhibited poise and grace on stage and her excellent performance has made Jamaicans all over the world very proud," said Simpson Miller.

“Sanneta truly embodies beauty with a purpose, and represents all that is good about our beloved island."

Simpson Miller said while Myrie did not walk away with the crown, she made an impact through her altruism, having tied for generating the most money on items brought for a charity auction.

She was also third in the talent competition.

“As the first dreadlocked contestant to win Miss Jamaica World and enter the Miss World competition, Sanneta is a pioneer in her own right, and is a wonderful role model for the country’s young people," Simpson Miller said.
