A red Mercedes-Benz 190E car, owned by the late Jamaican popular music icon Desmond Dekker, will be up for grabs this summer in a raffle at the Secret Garden Party Festival in Huntingdon, England.

According to a news report posted on www.ukfestivalguides.com, the raffle marks the 10th anniversary since Dekker passed away in May 2006. The car, which has been in the possession of band member Delroy Williams since Dekker's death, was fully restored earlier this year as a tribute to the late singer from the Secret Garden Party organisers. The restoration took over three months.

Dekker, known for hits including Israelites and 007 (Shanty Town), and band member Delroy Williams were consultants on the first festival. They also played at the event in 2005 as Desmond Dekker and the Aces.

The original members of the Aces will return to the stage this July as the band is slated to perform at the Secret Garden Party. The line-up is Delroy Williams, Brian Campbell, Leroy Green, Gordon Mulrain, Aubery Mulrain and Steve Baker. Baker will replace the original guitarist, Steve Roberts, who died under tragic circumstances a mere five months after Dekker's passing.

By offering the car as a raffle prize and having the original Aces play live at the Secret Garden Party, the organisers are focused on celebrating Dekker's rich musical legacy.

Entry details for the raffle can be found at http://desmonddekker.secretgardenparty.com.

Desmond Dekker died from a heart attack, collapsing at his home in Surrey, England. He was 64 years old.
